Seeing a peony bush loaded with bright pink blossoms is always a springtime feast for my eyes. My attention is immediately drawn to the splendor of the large, fragrant flowers that hang heavily on their elongated, slender stems. My eyes wander from blossom to blossom and eventually rest on the plethora of buds scattered throughout the bush like lollipops stuffed in a candy basket arrangement.
There is great beauty in the bud of a flower, especially these unique little orbs that appear in their varying stages of opening - tiny, unpretentious spheres that hold the promise of magnificent flowers soon to come. They represent the beginning of something quite extraordinary, and in them we are reminded of our own beginnings, the infant stage of life that holds the potential and promises for a bright future.
