Autumn Road

11 1/2 x 15 - SOLD
Nature provides me with a sensory feast as I travel the gravel roads of northern Minnesota during autumn. This is my favorite time of the year, a time when I relish in the beauty and abundance of this season of thanksgiving. I am bombarded by the vibrant oranges and golds of the aspen, the crimson reds of the sumac, the familiar honking of the geese as they pass overhead on their journey south, and the smell of pine needles and dried leaves in the brisk morning air. Everywhere plants are storing their energy deep in their roots and seeds to prepare for the future, the time of winterís dormancy. It seems my body has an instinctive need, as well, to absorb and store all the beauty and plentiful harvest of my surroundings, to fill the well in order to draw upon it at a later time.

It is possible to use nature as our guide as we, too, transition from one season of life to another; we can prepare for the future by retreating to a quieter place, by going inward and reflecting on our store of rich memories and feelings. We can bow to the rhythms of life and trust whatís happening, learning to go with the flow and celebrate the change.
